How in the heck am I ever going to sleep again? Ashton has learned how to climb out of his crib. It's been a sad week. NO more easy days of just putting him in his crib for a nap, laying him down for bed, or just putting him in there so he doesn't get into things. He's always been a crappy sleeper, but now it's 10 tens worst. He doesn't just lay down and go to sleep like the other two and then he's up three times a night. I feel like a mother with a newborn, walking around with no sleep. Any good suggestions out there? I'm listening!!!

I read to my kiddos. They get the sense that you are still there, but your not holding them down. Mine fall asleep pretty fast...but I could just have a really boreing reading voice! Sometimes Kyle sings to them...but that just gets them worked up. Nothing says lullaby like "Mr. Roboto"!
They made crib tents, but I don't like the way they look. I moved our youngest to a big boy bed because he was crawling out at 16 months, and he actually did better.
Augh!!! That is such a hard stage. Good luck with it.
Hi Cash's its Allie. That crazy kid I miss him so much. I miss you all. Tell Kenzie I said hi. I have a blog now its hallieallie.blogspot.com check it out some time. Again miss you all.
Yikes! Is there anything next to the crib that he can use as leverage? Monica used the changing table for a long time til I figured out it was helping her. And stuffed animals create good steps. Maybe minimize the amount of friends he gets to take to bed. Those were our two problems. But then she figured out how to get out without anything to step on. The big kid bed worked for us if you're at that point.
Ever heard of the "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer"? Well, it's by Tracy Hogg and she has one for toddlers, and it's really good. It's actually common sense, but for some reason a lot of us don't do it! You read it and just say, "duh." But she addresses helping kids stay in bed and sleep all night. It talks about having a nightly routine and other things. But I need to read it again cuz we've been having problems with Brittlee. But she's old enough that we've been using a chart, stickers, and bribery to the store. That's working for us! Good luck!
I sympathsize! P goes through bad sleeping spells all the time and usually it is due to my inconsistancy. My friend uses one of the crib tents and she really likes it. I too read baby whisperer and i need to get the toddler one but her suggestions are really good. I would say the biggest thing is consistancy. When he wakes up at night wait for a little while to see if he is just crying to see what you will do or actully needs you for something. When you do go in there don't say a thing, don't pick him up, act really tired (like you have to act), lay him down if he is standing up and tell him it is time to go to sleep then leave. Once i do that for a couple of nights with P it usually seems to work but no matter what just be consistant. For a while when P would wake up at night i would go in there and give him a drink of water, soon after that he was purposly waking himself up and calling for me to bring him some water...terd! I know that all kids are diffrent so may rest come to you soon!
When my kids started climbing out of bed it was time for a big boy or girl bed. I made a day of taking down the crib and putting up the big bed. I took them to target and let them choose their sheet set (I did not let them choose their comforter. I draw the line some where). I made it so they were excited to go sleep with the princesses or NASCAR. I have never had a problem with them getting out of bed. I put Mallory in a big girls bed at 18 months. Good Luck!
I always made a bed on the floor next to my bed, and Joseph would be there in the morning! It worked for us. You might want to try it! He did eventually outgrow it!
By the way, you are welcome to come visit us. We will even give you a ride in "The Beast" It is a little expensive to travel here, but it is something that can be done! Let me know!!! We would love it!
I am soooo sorry! Yuck! I'm no good with advise on this. I'm just mean so you probably don't want my ideas...unless you've just had it, call me. My kids for some reason never have sleep problems...maybe it's because they are actually secretly terrified of me, or I have a worse problem, HOW TO GET RID OF THE THUMB! Either way, your a great mom, just love him! He's a cutie. Maybe he just wants a sleepover with Max.
